First person convicted in Stanley Cup riot sentenced to 17 months

Vancouver - Two months have since went, after the Stanley Cup Riots which caused such anger and public up roar with the Vancouver police.

On thursday nearly eight months after this has happened the first rioter has been sentenced to 17 months in jail.

“If someone wants to go over that line of civility and commit carnage and mayhem the courts have spoken — if you do that you will be facing serious consequences,” Police Chief Jim Chu said. “The whole community has come together and said this is very bad behaviour.”

He will then receive 2 years worth in probation after his release

“I am ashamed and deeply embarrassed. I was caught up in the moment,” Dickinson said in an apology read out in court. “I made some very bad decisions that day.”

11 more charges against the group of 5, bringing a grand total of 140 charges against 52 individuals will go ahead.
